I would have liked to paint in oils or watercolour in St. John's College Chapel, but the rules don't allow for the use of any wet painting materials. I suppose it's possible for you to trip over, stand on a tube of phthalo blue and send a jet of indelible pigment "splat" all over some priceless book or ancient piece of furniture. The mind boggles.Anyway, I restricted myself to charcoal on paper which is fine because it's very simple to use and you can concentrate on the sketch itself.
